The biggest obstacle the KDFL faced in the beginning was the players’ age range, which led to Craig Simmons (Head of Player Development at the FA) attending some of the early games to see the 4-year age range we were using — Under 12s and Under 16s — in action.

As a result of this, the FA sanctioned the 4-year age banding in disability football nationwide.

So, the Kent Disability League can rightfully claim to be the trailblazer for disability football in England.
